The Umami Labs Pattern Injector is a plug-in controller designed specifically for the decorative light string on the 2025 Home Depot 3.5-ft R2-D2 Holiday Display, model 25SV24905.
It adds 23 custom lighting modes and effects, plus OFF, to R2-D2's decorative light string while continuing to use R2-D2's original control button to cycle through the modes.
The Pattern Injector controls the decorative light string only. It does not modify R2-D2's other lights, sounds, motion, sensors, or other factory functions.
This is an early BETA release, not a mass-produced finished product. By purchasing one of these first units, you're helping me test and refine the Pattern Injector through real-world installations and use. As a BETA customer, you'll also have direct access to me for installation help, troubleshooting, questions, feedback, and reasonable special requests as the project continues to develop.
Your feedback is an important part of this BETA test. I want to know what works well, what could be improved, and what you'd like to see the Pattern Injector do next.
I do not currently keep a large inventory of completed Pattern Injectors. Each unit is assembled by hand after your order is received, then individually installed on my own R2-D2 test setup and checked for proper operation before shipment.
Please allow a few days for assembly and testing before your order ships.
BETA quantities may be limited so I can personally build, test, and support every unit. If this item is temporarily out of stock, please check back. I will be making more and updating the available inventory.

Installation takes only a few minutes and requires no tools, no cutting, and no soldering. The Pattern Injector simply plugs inline with R2-D2's existing decorative light-string connection.
The original wiring and light string remain intact, and the installation is completely reversible.
Once installed, simply use R2-D2's original control button to advance through the Pattern Injector's lighting modes.
The Pattern Injector also remembers your last selected mode and restores it the next time R2-D2 is powered on.
Static Rainbow - Repeating rainbow colors across the light string.
Sequential Rainbow - The rainbow pattern slowly moves along the string.
Sequential Fading Rainbow - Rainbow colors smoothly fade from one position to the next.
Slow Whole-Strand Color Fade - The entire light string slowly transitions through the color spectrum.
Christmas Multicolor Static - Festive red, green, blue, and yellow Christmas colors.
Christmas Red/Green Static - Classic alternating red and green.
Christmas Red/Green Animated - Red and green bulbs change over time.
Halloween Static - Orange and purple Halloween colors.
Halloween Animated - A changing orange and purple pattern.
Red/White/Blue Static - A patriotic red, white, and blue pattern.
Red/White/Blue Animated - A changing patriotic red, white, and blue pattern.
R2 Blue/White Static - A blue and white pattern inspired by R2-D2's colors.
R2 Blue with White Flashes - A blue background with random white flashes.
White - Steady warm-white illumination.
White Shimmer - Soft white illumination with occasional brighter shimmering flashes.
Red - Solid red.
Orange - Solid orange.
Yellow - Solid yellow.
Green - Solid green.
Cyan - Solid cyan.
Blue - Solid blue.
Purple - Solid purple.
Magenta/Pink - Solid magenta/pink.
OFF - Turns the decorative light string off.

The Pattern Injector contains a programmable microcontroller. A technically skilled user may be able to reprogram or modify the device, and I'm happy to help other makers experiment with and further develop the concept.
If you have a special lighting sequence, custom behavior, or other modification in mind, email me. I can't promise every request will be practical, but I'm very interested in hearing what other R2-D2 owners would like the Pattern Injector to do.
